About Us
Out of the City Lights. Into the Void.
It started at 2:00 AM under a Bortle 1 sky.
While the rest of the world was asleep, we were out in the freezing cold, waiting for our optical tubes to acclimate, meticulously aligning our equatorial mounts, and hunting for faint fuzzies deep in the cosmos. We are astrophotographers, telescope builders, and deep-sky observers. We know the thrill of finally capturing those elusive ancient photons after hours of precise tracking.
But when we looked for apparel that represented our true passion, we found nothing but generic NASA logos, cartoon astronauts, and simplistic galaxy prints. There was a massive disconnect between the profound, highly technical nature of observational astronomy and the generic "space shirts" available on the market.
We realized that true stargazers didn't have a brand. We didn't have a badge of honor that spoke our language—a language of apertures, focal ratios, narrowband imaging, and collimation.
So, we created UmbraVoid.
The Meaning of UmbraVoid
The name itself is born from the shadows.
- The Umbra is the darkest, innermost part of a shadow during an eclipse—a perfect, sacred alignment of celestial bodies.
- The Void represents the infinite, silent expanse we spend our nights exploring.
Together, they symbolize the one thing every astronomer desperately seeks and reveres: the purest, darkest skies, free from the blinding light pollution of modern life.
Our Mission
Our mission is clear: to forge premium, scientifically-informed apparel and accessories for the dedicated astronomer.
We design for the observer who understands the distinct difference between a reflector and a refractor. We design for the astrophotographer who spends 15 hours stacking frames just to pull a faint emission nebula out of the noise. We design for those who know that true beauty is found when you look up.
We don't just sell shirts. We craft statements of passion. Every UmbraVoid piece features meticulously curated, intelligent designs, printed on high-quality, comfortable fabrics built to keep you warm during those long, cold observing sessions.
We are here to help you wear the cosmos, accurately and proudly.
Clear skies, The UmbraVoid Team
